The Rockridge Manor  Neighborhood website features the rapidly changing neighborhoods near the intersection of Broadway and 51rst St in Oakland, Ca.

A million new residents have been predicted to move to the SF Bay area in the next 10 years. The Broadway Auto Row corridor has been selected by developers as a good location for their apartment projects. It is close to 2 BART stations(MacArthur and Rockridge)and bus lines.It’s near good neighborhoods. Opposition on the grounds of gentrification is reduced because the new apartments are replacing used car lots not people. But there is opposition from neighbors protesting   their single- family detached home neighborhood being  “up-zoned” for taller, higher-density apartment behemoths.
